Bigg Boss 18: Donkey removed from show after PETA urges makers, Salman Khan

The Donkey named Max, also known as Gadharaj, was the first contestant to be eliminated from Bigg Boss 18. His removal from the reality show followed appeals from animal welfare organisations to the producers. Earlier, The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) urged Salman Khan and the makers to exclude the donkey, citing public distress.
In a statement released on social media, People For Animals (PFA) shared, “Thanks to Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Chairperson, People For Animals, for her intervention in this matter. This success was made possible through the collective efforts of everyone in the community who stood up for the donkey’s release (sic).”
The statement also read, “We are pleased to inform you that the Bigg Boss team has updated us with the news that they have released the donkey. This success is a direct result of the collective efforts of everyone who supported and joined the cause. Thank you for standing with us and for showing that compassion and action can make a real difference (sic).”

Earlier, as per the letter sent out by the PETA India team on Wednesday, October 9, they requested Salman Khan to urge the producers to avoid using animals as props for entertainment.
A part of the letter read, “This would not only prevent stress on the animals and upset viewers but also set a powerful precedent. We also urge you to encourage Advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte, who has reportedly brought Max into the house, to surrender the donkey to PETA India to re-home in a sanctuary with other rescued donkeys. Such a move would surely win Advocate Sadavarte fans.”
Bigg Boss 18 airs on ColorsTV and alternatively streams on JioCinema app.
